The Great Mission Return to the Homeland deeply regrets the decision announced by the President of the United States to unilaterally suspend its regular flights intended for the return of Venezuelan migrants who were living in the United States.
These flights have made it possible to rescue, protect, and offer a dignified return to hundreds of Venezuelans who, after facing situations of vulnerability resulting from discrimination, persecution, and imprisonment to which they have been subjected in cities across the United States, have found in this humanitarian program the opportunity to return to their Nation.
The U.S. measure violates the spirit of cooperation, contradicts the principles of international law, and abruptly breaks the agreements reached on February 31st with the official envoy of that country.
As a result of this agreement, 75 flights originating from the United States have arrived since February, carrying 13,956 Venezuelan migrants in a plan that has had the full logistical support of the Bolivarian government of Venezuela and has unfortunately been canceled by the government of the United States.
Despite this unilateral action, the Great Mission Return to the Homeland remains fully active, guaranteeing protection, accompaniment, and comprehensive guidance to all Venezuelans who wish to return.
We will continue working hand-in-hand with President Nicolás Maduro Moros with firmness, humanity, and commitment to ensure a safe, orderly, and happy return, as every son and daughter of Venezuela deserves.
